The Tasmanian Aboriginal community, particularly the Palawa people, have a long tradition of mutton birding, and their sustainable practices are deeply rooted in their cultural heritage. This harvest is conducted under strict guidelines to ensure the well-being of the mutton bird population, which is one of Australia's most abundant native seabirds (Indigenous.gov.au)
